Things You (Probably) Didn't Know About Star Trek

By you I mean the average Joe, who grew up watching Star Trek re-runs, not the guy in the klingon suit drinking romulan ale.

This been said, here we go:

1. Spock Smiles

Most people think Spock never smiles, and this is true for most episodes of the series. It seems his personality was built as the show went on.

But, in the early episodes, He is shown once in a while with a big smile on his face, as seen on the picture below, from season 1 episode 16, "The Cage".

2. Hanging Out With Klingon People

Klingons don't waste their time with greetings. In fact, there's only one greeting in their language.

When someone comes to talk to you, You ask "nuqneH", which means "what do you want?".

When you go to talk to someone, simply state what you have to and leave.

Sometimes they use "Qapla" (success) to mean "good-bye" or "Hello".

3. Enterprise And Seatbelts

You don't have to pay a lot of attention to notice that, almost on every episode, something explodes and someone flies away on the bridge of the Enterprise.

That's it, Enterprise has no seatbelts, despite the fact it's always in the middle of all sort of conflicts.

4. The Red Shirts Curse

73% of the deaths in the three year mission were from members of the crew wearing red shirts.
