Wordpress 2.3 had some major upgrades (like built in tag system), that made a lot of themes out there get deprecated.
Also, if you perform a search for Wordpress themes, you keep getting the same old known themes as usual.
Thinking on that, I made a long journey through a lot of the most recently launched themes.
Look no further, here's the list:
Wicked Lemon

2 column, fluid width, widget ready, 4 color schemes switcher and docking sidebar.
The sidebar uses a docking system that allows dragging and dropping items wherever you want.
Wpdesigner7

2 column, fixed width, widget ready, semi-grid base.
Red is the default color, but it comes with a style switcher for blue or green.
Inele

2 column, fixed width, with a very pleasant choice of colors.
Star’Eve

2 column, fixed width, dark color scheme.
I'm not very fond of dark color schemes, but this one caught my eye. I played with it for a while and it just looks great with a content area in white.
Procut

2 column, fixed width, widget ready, hover effect on RSS and search box.
Procut is a themes series that comes with 2 widths, keeping almost the same layout. Clean and professional look, ideal for professional blogs.
Artificial Intelligence

2 column, fixed width, widget ready.
I really like this theme. It has a serious look, but with a little color tweaking it can be used for almost every purpose.
Prosumer

Three column, fixed width, widget ready, custom header.
I really like the use of yellow on this theme. It also has a prominent subscribe to feed icon that looks great on the right of the header.
Pinkedge

3 column, right sidebar, Adsense ready, tag cloud compatible.
Very nice use of pink and a large search box on the header.
Soleil

2 column, fluid width, web 2.0 vivid colors.
This theme has very clever functions, such as displaying control strings in visitor's language, as set on his browser. It's also highly customizable and includes the .psd files for easier customization.
TypoXP 2.0

3 column, fixed width, widget ready.
This theme was very popular a couple of months ago. This is version 2.0, bringing improvements on the css, for easier customization.
Zaxioma

2 column, fixed width, no images.
If you want to focus on content, this is your theme. Very easy to customize and with a cool shadow effect on the header. On comments you have the tips to widen the width, which is very easy, indeed.
Tiga

3 column, fluid width, widget ready.
Tiga has an options page where you can make a lot of changes without touching hardcode. It's quite clean and uses almost no images. Good for fast loading and focus on content.
Blending Curves

2 column, fixed width, widget ready, plus a widgetized footer.
Very nice use of pink, a hard to work color. You can also download the .psd files for better customization.
Black SEO

2 column, fixed width, Adsense ready.
Another nice black color scheme, with a very good combination of blue and pink (the best for dark colors, I guess).
Upstart Blogger Minim
2 column, fixed width, widget ready, minimalistic theme.
Upstart Blogger features a unique design, large fonts and no images. You have also the option of a different home page, linking to your posts.
WPTP-Chocolate
3 column, fixed width, widget ready.
This design reminds me of What Would Tyler Durden Do? one. The brown nuances and the content area white background give a nice contrast.
If I would change anything, it would be the green background.
3Grey

3 column, fixed width, widget ready.
Nice round colors and a serious design.
Marc

3 column, fixed width, widget ready.
The header can be changed through admin panel.
Linear EX

2 column, fixed width, minimalistic theme.
Black and white, with focus on content.
Crazy Ball

2 column, fixed width.
Ideal for a sports blog, vivid web 2.0 color scheme.
RevolutionCars

3 column, fixed width.
The theme is Adsense ready and has a customizable header.
DivClear

3 column, fixed width, widget ready, ads ready.
Another good use of yellow. Simple, yet cool.
