It' all about relevance!
1. Digg's homepage is controlled by 20*, probably virgin, 16-year old nerds.
2. When your page hits Digg's front page, thousands of others 16-year old virgin nerds will come, devastate your bandwidth and go. And you don't get a dime from this. Because…
3. Digg's members don't click anything, don't buy anything from affiliate links, period.
4. Digg's front page is a collection of broken links.
5. While Digg's front page displays only what the 20's* think is good, upcoming stories are a mix of spam links and boring, never-ending stories from The Washington Post and The New York Times. I know, nobody reads that, neither Who submitted them.

Very good points. You do get money for page impressions, but it's likely that 3/4 of your traffic has adblock on anyways.
